Our students use technology to support their learning and work toward the vision for a learner at AISC. Our teaching and learning is aligned with and also supported by the , which includes topics such as privacy, cyberbullying, safety, and digital footprints. Students use their devices, as age appropriate, throughout the year to:

  • create and deliver multimedia presentations

  • collect scientific data and write lab reports

  • practice skills

  • collaborate on and share their writing and research

  • create and edit videos, illustrations, and audio projects like podcasts or soundtracks

  • design, conduct and participate in surveys

  • research current and historical information

  • develop computational and design thinking skills and apply them to real-world solutions

  • master executive functions like planning, organizing, and collaborating

  • communicate with their teachers and other students

Elementary School

Students in Early Years and Kindergarten have access to supervised use of technology to support play and exploration. Students in Grades 1 and 2 will have access to an iPad device in their classrooms. These devices will be personalized and will remain in the classroom as tools for use in school.

Students in Grades 3-5 participate in the 1:1 program. They will use a school-owned and school-issued iPad device as their core technology tool. They will be taught how to take care of it, how to use it responsibly, and how it can help them achieve their goals and express themselves. This program is designed to allow students to take their iPads home -- the timing of this step will be determined by the grade level homeroom teachers, and communicated to you in advance.

In addition to teachers helping them manage the device at school, parents will have a tool to manage the device at home (see below, ).

Middle School

Students in the Middle School will participate in the 1:1 iPad program, which is new for School Year 2024-25. Each student will receive an iPad with key accessories (see "The 1:1 Kit" below). Families will asked to agree to take responsibility for the device before it can go home with students. We also have a very manageable insurance policy that families can opt into (see below, "Taking Care of Your Device" > "Optional Accidental Damage Coverage").

High School

Student mobile phones must remain off and in their backpacks for the length of the school day. (See "").

High School students participate in the "Bring Your Own Technology" (BYOT) program. They will be expected to bring a full featured laptop -- Windows or Mac -- for use in class. (They may also bring an iPad as an accessory device, but this is completely optional.) For more information, please see the
